Do you ever wish you could carry your air conditioner around with you wherever you go? Now you can! Well, sort of. This DIY spray has all the cooling effects of an A/C and it’s small enough to fit in your purse.
Don’t let warm weather get you down. Stay cool this summer when you are out and about with a natural peppermint cooling spray.
How to Make a Portable Cooling Spray
Peppermint contains menthol, which has natural cooling properties. Combine that with the cooling characteristics of witch hazel and aloe and this simple spray will help you beat the heat this summer. For more on peppermint oil uses, watch this short video:
2 oz distilled water
2 oz witch hazel
2 tbsp of aloe vera gel
5 drops of peppermint essential oil
4 oz spray bottle
Add the distilled water, witch hazel and aloe together. You can extract the aloe from your own aloe vera plant as instructed here, or purchase ready made aloe vera gel from this page. Mix until all the aloe is thoroughly dissolved into the solution.
Add Essential Oil
Add 5 drops of peppermint essential oil. Don’t go overboard, peppermint oil is strong—a little goes a long way.
Pour the mixture into the spray bottle. Give it a good shake.
How to Use
Since this spray contains witch hazel and peppermint, do not spray it directly on the face. It’s better to spray it on a small towel then pat it on your face. The witch hazel and peppermint can sting your eyes. Otherwise, use the spray anywhere on your body for a quick cooling sensation.
This peppermint cooling spray is especially effective on the soles of your feet, especially when you have been on them all day. For even more of a cooling effect, keep the spray in the refrigerator for use on an especially hot day. Keep a bottle of the peppermint cooling spray in your bag for easy access. Stay cool!
