Coca-Cola is undeniably one of the most popular beverages around the world, and it is the most popular soft-drink by far. But did you know that it is also one of the most acidic beverages that people drink on a regular basis?
According to dentist Dr. Terri Winn, Coca-Cola has a pH level of 2.5. The only soft drink that contains more acid than Coca-Cola is Pepsi.
To put this into perspective, water has a pH level of 7, which means it is considered a neutral substance, neither too basic or acidic. While battery acid, which would have incredibly harmful effects if consumed, has a pH level of 1, meaning it is incredibly acidic. As you can see, Coca-Cola is closer to battery acid than water in terms of acidity.
Aside from the fact that drinking Coco-Cola is closer to drinking battery acid than water, soft drinks in general have been linked to respiratory disorders including asthma and other chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases.
Furthermore, people who consume 1-2 cans of soft drink on a daily basis have a 26% increase in risk of developing diabetes, a 20% increase in risk of suffering from a heart attack and a 75% increase in suffering from gout compared to people who only consume these beverages on an occasional basis.
If this isn’t enough to convince you that Coca-Cola should NOT be going inside your body than I don’t know what will.

Although Coca-Cola may not help you in terms of health, that doesn’t mean that it still isn’t useful. Coca-Cola has been shown to be a surprisingly effective cleaning agent, possibly due to it’s high levels of acidity, and can perform seemingly miraculous feats of cleanliness, from getting rid of rust to cleaning oil stains.
Even though it may not be fit for human consumption, maybe keep a few cans of coke around just in case. Here are 10 ways you can use Coca-Cola to clean around your house.
1. Coke and aluminum can get rid of rust and polish crome.
2. Soak old pennies in Coca-cola to get rid of penny tarnish.
3. Cleaning your toilet: Pour Coca-cola along the inside of your bowl, let it sit, wipe the top and flush.
4. Clean burnt pans: Let Coca-cola sit in dirty pans, afterwards rinse with water and wipe down pan.
5. Strip the paint off of metal furniture by soaking a towel in Coca-cola and let it sit on the surface of the furniture.
6. Clean oil stains from a garage floor: let the Coca-cola soak into the stain, then wash off with a hose.
7. Remove rust: you can use fabric, a sponge, or aluminum foil dipped in Coke.
8. You can use Coke to clean your engine.
9. Remove stains from ceramics such as porcelain.
