3 Glasses Later

Marcos Alberti has been labeled this project ‘3 Glasses Later’ and is pretty self explanatory. In collaboration with all of his invited guests, Marcos Alberti treated them to a happy hour with wine. The photosets of these individuals were taken right when they got to the studio after a long day of work. Then, a photo after every glass of wine they’ve had. Additionally, Alberti captures the progression of people’s demeanors as they drink in these revealing portraits. If you’ve ever gone over to a friends after work to unwind with a couple of drinks, you may already be familiar with these expressions.

The hustle and bustle of everyday life can get us into a funky mood that can be really hard to shake off sometimes. Whenever you have to sit through traffic, drive all the way there, and had to do a full day of work, your demeanor may be a bit tense. It’s understandable that you may be a little uptight from the day. However, give it some time and a few glasses, you’ll be singing a different tune. (1)

The Revealing Portraits Progression

The same can be said with Alberti’s guests. You can see people’s initial moods in the first photos of the set. Their eye’s are heavy and weighted with exhaustion from the day. Forcing a smile even when they don’t really feel like smiling at that moment. Our moods are completely bottled up in our heads and try to dumb down the way we feel when we know the truth.

You can see in the second photo after the first glass of wine how much their facial expressions have changed already. Maybe finally showing some teeth in their smile. You can even tell in the way they hold themselves is different than the first photo. Starting to loosen up a bit now with a little alcohol in their system.

By the third photo, you can tell that all restraints have gone out the window. Their hair may be a little out of place, smiling a lot wider, and getting a little more expressive with their bodies. After having a second glass of wine, you can definitely notice the shift in personality.

The fourth photo is what really sells it. By the time Alberti’s guests have had a third glass of wine, they’re a completely different person! Well, maybe they’re the same person, just a little more photogenic than before. Now more visible than before, all of them seem to be in much happier moods.
